October 22nd Coalition to Stop Police Brutality Demands: Drop the Charges Against All Those Arrested at the BioJustice Protests in San Diego

Thousands of people converged in San Diego for BioJustice 2001 the week of June 22-27, 2001 to voice broad concerns about food safety, the inequalities in the world, the patenting of life for private control, and other environmental issues.

Also convening in San Diego was dangerous police state that must be firmly opposed. The October 22nd Coalition to Stop Police Brutality stands with the protesters and opposes the police attempts to intimidate, harass, arrest, detain and scare protesters. We will not tolerate suppression and criminalization of dissent. Instead, we are committed to organize people to oppose the increased repression against those involved in political dissent in this country. We salute all the courageous protesters who stepped forward to demand a better world. Their courageous spirit and determination to protest in an atmosphere of extreme repression and intimidation should be supported.

In the recent years, resisting the status quo and voicing opposition to the establishment has meant braving hundreds of police in riot gear, military style vehicles, brutality, harassment, arrests and political spying.
