I think the San Diego Police Department did a great job! They were able to keep our city safe from the Anti-goverment, un American punks!
If you don't like the United States then leave! Love it or leave it! For those of you who are visiting from another city, check out the want ads. It appears most of you need jobs.

The so-called concerned citizen above forgets that part of the guarantees of
this country is freedom of speech and the right to protest and petition the
government. It theory it does not guarantee the right of pigs to protect
corporations, but they do anyways. This ignorant person's tired 20th century
response of "america/californa, love it or leave it" is indicative of how
old this person is...so don't sweat the usual tirade from an old fart. I hate
to sound ageist, but that mentality will be dying soon.
Boo to the pigs!!!! and the old farts who got nothing new to say!!!!!
Victory to the San Diego Biotech Protestors for having the heart to
standup to not just the corporate exploitation, but the city's military
state!!!!

concerned citizen might want to think about whether macdonalds is really an important part of san diego (or every other city in the world), and about who is protecting concerned citizens. this concerned citizen doesn't think the police are.

GOD BLESS OUR POLICE AND SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES! I AM CERTAIN THAT IT WAS ONLY BECAUSE OF THEIR PRESENCE THAT THE "PEACEFUL" DEMONSTRATION REMAINED PEACFUL. THEY DID A GREAT JOB AND SENT A MESSAGE, LOUD AND CLEAR, THAT PROPERTY DAMAGE AND CIVIL UNREST WOULD NOT BE TOLERATED. EXCELLENT JOB! VIOLENCE BEGETS VIOLENCE...

I only heard this second hand, but, when Jose Bove tore apart a McDonalds in France, he had the support of the community. When he informed the local police of when and where the dismantling of Chez Ronald's was to happen, they asked that his group dismantle a sign or something besides the restaurant itself. He said, no, they wanted to destroy the McDonald's. And they all went there and smashed the windows of McDonald's.
So, it's not like the police *must* protect McDonald's. There's no intrinsic relationship between the two.
Perhaps McDonald's is paying off the cops for this service. If they are not, the police are getting ripped off, because they should be out protecting people, not big business.

No shit violence begets violence. It is the violence of overzealous "police" and unrestrained greed that make people upset in the first place and protest. Try thinking about what you are saying, buddy.

Even with all the cops protecting our City from another Seattle incident...there were still cops answering radio calls and protecting the citizens of San Diego from idiots like you who go on to another state and another issue from here. Today is hamburgers...tomorrow is another thing!

Why is the right to free speech more important than the inalienable right to pursue happiness? If getting rich by heading up a corporation makes you happy, you should be allowed to pursue it. You socialist losers don't seem to get it. If you get your way, you will lose your free speech rights. And the police didn't prevent any free speech or movement anyway. They obvioulsy didn't deny entry to the restaurant to any protesters. I know this because I saw, first hand, the drummer with the helmet that had the "funeral" stickers all over it eating a McDonald's hamburger during the rally in front of the convention center. I saw, again first hand, same drummer in front of Burger King the next day protesting with PETA. He was wearing a pink fuzzy costume that day, with no mask. You guys don't know what you want, other than the right to hate authority, paint your faces, chant silly chants, and dance to drum beats in the street. No one listens to fools like that. You're nothing more than comic relief.

Hey stupid last time I checked this was the U.S. not France. I don't know about the the French police but in this country the police take an oath to protect life and property. So if you want to tear something down go to France.
Your right to protest does not give you the right to destroy the property of some one else.

I think its deeply amusing. If America has nothing to hide, then why does it require a bunch of ARMED police officers. We don't want to see a repeat of LA do we people. That photograpgh is great. It just sums up modern America and capitalism.
And why are people showing such patriotism over a subject that they should pushing out of their "civilized society". Patriotism is a sign of weakness and blindness. not strengh. The ones that fight the system, are the true Americans, as they want the best for theri country, AND the rights for OTHER people around the world. yes, OTHER people, a concept that not many Americans can under stand. Like when the U.s government, funded terrorist cells, such as the IRA or, providing money and weapons to Iraq. It's fine as long as it's not america in the firing line. That is until sept 11th came of course. And all I can say about that it, What goes around, come around. God bless the fighters for true freedom and constitutional rights!
