Anti-biotechnology activist, Satya Nupur, dons a monarch butterfly outfit to protest biotechnology’s harmful impact on this butterfly and other endangered species at the Biotech Convention in San Diego on June 24, 2001. Nuper, joined by over 1000 other protesters, marched peacefully from Balboa Park to the convention center where the biotechnology industry was meeting. A giant banner reading “Biotech Perverts, Get Out of our Genes” was also hoisted into to sky to greet the convention attendees.
