LAPD closes down Benefit for the LB M1 arestees

by Agent Rampage Monday, May. 14, 2001 at 11:24 PM

20 Minutes into a Benefit show for M1 arestees, the LAPD shuts it down.

LAPD came into a benefit show organized by the Los Angeles chapter of the AGC (Alternitive Gathering Collective)with a fire code inspector and shut it down. Though the venue was in a back alley, and very inconspicous, it is suspected that police managed to find it by getting a hold of the flyer. After closing the show down the fire inspector started taking pictures of people at the event as they were dispersing. The show was a benfefit for the people arrested in the Long Beach Massacre on May 1st. This is another episode added in a wave of attacks against anarchists in the SoCal area since the Long Beach Massacre.

Some comments

by Guy Berliner Tuesday, May. 15, 2001 at 12:44 AM

A few points:

1) If true, this appears to be quite outrageous politically

motivated interference in the constitutionally protected

liberties of the people at the gathering. I'd like to hear

more corroborating details

2) The incident you refer to in Long Beach was probably

very abusive behavior by police, reminiscent of the strong-arm

tactics used in various authoritarian one party states. But it

certainly wasn't a "massacre." Webster's dictionary defines

the word massacre as:

1.The act or an instance of killing a large number of human

beings under circumstances of atrocity or cruelty

Massacres are what occur in various proxy wars the US

has fought and continues to pursue in Latin America and

elsewhere. To use the term in this instance is highly

reprehensible and discredits your report.

Soft drill came to riverside before its beta testing at ohio.Officer mark davies may expect a big send off quite soon as donations and pledges flood in.Sue the blue and if you find a cop killer call for soft drill.

soft drill is the open source distro of assasination politics.

soft drill it feels good and it shows.

Request for more info

by john sherman Tuesday, May. 15, 2001 at 3:00 PM
john.sherman@wright.edu

Could you please provide more basic info: where was the benefit? When? When did the raid occur? Did you get the name of the fire inspector? Name(s) of police officers with them? More basic info is needed so that those of us concerned about basic civil liberties can adequately respond. Thanks.

police are stoopid!!!

by Duuuhhhh Wednesday, May. 16, 2001 at 3:16 PM

This escalation of violence against anarchists by the cops won't cause the anarchist movement to break apart out of fear or whatever, as they are trying to do. These brutal attacks that blatantly violate constitutional rights are causing more and more people who don't know much about anarchists to stand behind the anarchists.

Thanks, stupid cops, for working for anarchist values by causing more and more people to learn about and support anarchist beliefs.

The people will prevail!

Thank you webster, but if I needed a dictionary definition of "Massacre" I would have looked it up myself. Thank you for your wasted comments.

Semantics is the least of our problems

by dark_angel417 Thursday, May. 17, 2001 at 6:01 PM
Psyche417@yahoo.com

While semantics is the least of our problems, we should try to keep it real and not embellish to the point of being ludicrous. Civil liberties can be forgotten conveniently when in violation of tedious codes and zones within a city. We have to keep practicing civil disobedience and letting everyone out there know why we do it. For what we are, anarchists are more coherent a group than all the faceless capitalist warriors who are still negotiating the idea of negotiating to form a committee to negotiate... However, let's not make one party sound like a bloodbath or bitch about the misuse of a word stemming from passion.

Are you some kind of "IDIOT"???

by EXIT Thursday, May. 31, 2001 at 7:26 AM

Mr. Webster, are you some kind of IDIOT?? (Haha, get it, Rampage?). First of all, no one really cares what the words actual definition is. Fuck language. Second, you talk about this constitution respecting our freedom of speech blah blah bullshit. Do you think they will give us freedom of speech? We have to demand it. I spit on the fucking constitution. Will it respect me? No. Will the upholders respect me? No. DO I CARE? FUCK NO!!!!
