Area C CleanUp this Saturday, March 10

Ballona Wetlands Area C Community Clean-Up

Saturday, March 10, 2001

12 noon - 3:00 p.m.

Meet @ the McConnell entrance the Ballona Creek bike path

This event will mark the beginning of monthly clean-ups to beautify the Ballona Wetlands from the degradation developers have allowed for so long.

Let's show City Hall that the people of this region are better stewards for the Wetlands than Wall Street developers. Come help clean up trash that has

long been an eyesore to the land, place educational signage about the fragile nature of this land, and begin to mark off sensitive areas that need protection.

--T-shirts for "Ballona Stewards" who agree to help in at least four restoration events in one year - State Controller Kathleen Connell will be the first to make that commitment and receive a shirt!

--Special guest environmentalist/actor Ed Begley Jr. will join in the cleanup!

--Pizza (by Abbots Pizza!) and juice provided in exchange for your hardwork!

Directions: The best option is to bike, bus or walk. If you must drive, please carpool!

The entrance to the Clean-Up event is at McConnell Street and the Ballona Creek Bike Path entrance. For those of you who use a Thomas Guide, this is

North of Ballona Creek, South of Culver Blvd, and East of Lincoln and the 90 expressway. There is street parking available.

Directions from the intersection of Lincoln & Washington Blvds: Take Lincoln South Turn Left onto the Marina Expressway (90 East) Take a Left on Culver

Blvd. Take a Right on McConnell. McConnell dead-ends to the entrance of the bike path which runs along Ballona Creek.
