The Free Trade Area of the Americas plans to extend NAFTA across the entire Western hemisphere – from the Arctic Circle to Tierra del Fuego!

The next Arizona meeting for resistance to the FTAA will be held in Tucson on Sunday, February 25th, 4:30 pm at the Quaker House, 931 N. 5th Ave. (adjacent to the 4th Ave. park, just North of University).

This is a chance for people and groups in the Arizona/Sonora and broader Southwest regions to participate in formulating local resistance to the Free Trade Area of the Americas. A solid proposal for action should be on the table at that time. Since this is the case, please think hard about attending if you are even remotely interested in solidarity against the FTAA. The goal is for planning to be an open, non-hierarchical process.

Additionally, a teach-in on the FTAA is tentatively being planned for March 31st, to be held in Tucson, with a possible second event in Northern Arizona the following week.

Groups and individuals from Nogales, Tucson, Phoenix, Prescott, Flagstaff, and

other parts of Arizona, Sonora, and the Southwest are invited to participate in planning for action and education. For more info, please call Alicia at (520) 623-9141 or email HarmonizeThis@cranefist.com. Representatives from groups planning action for the FTAA in April in other regions such as New Mexico, Texas, and California are encouraged to attend, so as to coordinate timing, message, logistics, etc. Get in touch for possible housing arrangements.

Flyers for this meeting will also be available at the Quaker House (ask for Paula) during the next week – pick some up to distribute to groups and individuals.

Please forward and publish this message widely.
