I have listened and watched many good radio stations become formulated garbage, all under the guise of the burning need for "progress", "increased effective transmission power", "professionalism" and "increased listenership". The county is littered with the carcasses of once great contributors to the arts and the community.
Having listened to, and read transcripts of Pacifica Board Meetings and Pacifica radio shows, and interviews, let me make this funny paper simple:
Do not be deceived by smooth, slow, intelligent sounding, sonorous voices. Do not give much credence to co-workers past appearances of values and allegiances, if today they are siding with the Foundation Hijackers. Whatever contributions these people may have made in the past, if any, the hijackers of the Pacifica Foundation Board, and their pod-people puppet and minions, will take no prisoners in their quest for "progress", if they are allowed to remain. ****Vivid Example: their version of "progress" was their blacking-out of Democracy Now! on January 31, 2001 when what was breaking news of undeniably NATIONAL IMPORTANCE discomforted them.*****
It is possible that they are somehow ignorant of the damage they alone have already caused, and continue to cause. (I hope many will be made to pay back the listener supporters out of their own funds.) Perhaps they truly believe their "mission", like some elements of the Park Service believe in paving over pristine wilderness, for tour bus "drive throughs", thus "increasing the 'audience'", at the price of having destroyed what was important in the first place.
