CONTACT GOVERNOR DAVIS QUICKLY

by JG Thursday, Jan. 04, 2001 at 8:59 AM
graydavis@governor.ca.gov (916) 445-2841

STOP THIS THEFT BY THE ELECTRICITY CARTEL Governor Gray Davis State Capitol Building, Sacramento, CA 95814 Phone: (916) 445-2841 Fax: (916) 445-4633 graydavis@governor.ca.gov

Decision being made tomorrow.

Governor Davis,

We trust you to protect us from the thieves who would gouge us and basically rip us off. Are you turning on us?

I refer of course to this new electricity company bailout, a heinous and corrupt act that flies in the face of alleged "free market" ideology, the kind that we are force fed daily. If the electrical companies go bankrupt, then so be it. Take the companies public. Buy them out.

This deregulation is directly to blame for the artificial power shortage and extortion by the generators. The deregulation should be reversed. The state should learn the error of its ways, and seek to correct this outrageous and carastrophic theft.

Bailing out these companies with rate hikes does not remedy the problem. It only proves to the extorters that they can get away with it. They'll do it again. Look for more "shortages" and rate hikes. This is madness and corruption in broad daylight.

Los Angeles isn't facing any rate hikes, because LA kept the power public. Are we learning nothing here?

I will vote against a governor who sells me out to the electricity cartel in the next election.

Governor Gray Davis
State Capitol Building
Sacramento, CA 95814
Phone: (916) 445-2841
Fax: (916) 445-4633

Will people ever learn?

"We trust you to protect us from the thieves who would gouge us and basically rip us off." ???

Hello!! You can't trust politicians!!!

"The defining characteristic of the political class is its untrustworthiness." Someone smarter than me said that, but I forget who.

As for the rest -- I have my own theories on why there's a California power shortage and it has nothing to do with "evil cartels."

That's for another day.

The point is simple: STOP TRUSTING POLITICIANS. ALL OF THEM -- REPUBLICANS, DEMOCRATS, WHATEVER.

Thank you.
