A notorius coffee shop that need not be named was scammed by flies on the wall who made fake coupons for it then handed them out around the LA area.
This small action was done to commemorate, in a small way, the year anniversary of Seattle, not by marching and whatching movies but by doing a little direct action in the present tense.
so free advertising for them. YAY!!! I usually accept many types of protest and direct action, but handing out free coupons?????? so people go in there, get coffee maybe pays for something to eat; probably with a friend that doesn't have a free coupon who buys soem coffee. Not to be a dick or anything but you shoulda thought that one out more.

If you look around, they are everywhere anyway. We have to find ways to damage them surreptitiously. Wven a reported on protest serves as advertisement for the company, as they say, any press is good press.
The word is scamming, getting them to pay alittle more then they ussually do, a collatoral damage short of theft. and if the offense is noted, it is not the coupon holders to blame, but the creator who remains hidden. The arguement to ensue reveals cracks in the system. "Where did you get this coupon, its fake." " an employee was handing them out."
"that person isnt our employee" "well it looks like a real coupon to me."
Arguements and conversations around the logo and tossing of the validity of that logo and the surface of that reality are good.
ya, but your still getting people to go into that store...it is a totally worthless thing to do, why not make flyers about it and had them out?
because just making fliers doens't cost the store money. if you make enough fake coupons, you can cut into their profits sharply.
