The front page of the LA IMC website only has features about the recent American elections. This is a pretty one-sided view of the world. What about other activism happening right now? I suggest taking the election coverage and putting it on a special "in focus" page.
Paul's really gotten into this issue.
The web group is very small, and has been quite taxed lately with related IMC projects, and has been unable to keep up.
There are several logistical issues and other issues that are impeding the development of the LA IMC. All help is greatly appreciated by the existing participants.
I appreciate the Coup Watch. This is the only independent media site where I found this coverage. Phil Agre has been terrifically passionate and smart in his essays, and he's providing the ONLY truly alternative voice to this whole mess.
I am following this closely, and need an alternative source. Sure, I can always go directly to Red Rock after this, but what about the others who wander over here later looking for media coverage of the GOP Coup (and it's damn scary, and all the public is acquiesencing in media and investigative passivity). If it's relegated to a minor spot, they might miss out on what's happening.
This is damn scary, people. The GOP is employing fascistic techniques to derail democracy. I have to wonder, why isn't there more outrage at the Independent Media sites? Are we all too busy planning how we can best indulge our sentimental memories of Nov. 30 '99? Or perhaps too busy snarling "I told you so -- I voted Nader, ha ha, live with your error"? I don't see the point of all the small parties planned here (Seattle) in honor of OURSELVES -- WHAT WE DID A YEAR AGO, when there's a f*cking fascist right-wing coup happening right under our noses.
But ... we can't be bothered with that, right? That's just "politics as usual," right? (Bored yawn by puppet makers busily planning to honor themselves.)
No other IMS is on the ball with this, at least the big city sites. At least Los Angeles for keeping the rest of the nation (and the world) on top of this. Give it a prominent part of your site until it is resolved.
And then let it be followed up by Phil or anyone else who has the courage and time to talk openly about it, because there's going to be a truckload of dirt the whole year after.
I'd like to thank the two LA IMC volunteers who contacted me via e-mail. I understand that you are understaffed; all the more reason for people to volunteer to help their local IMC project.
Nice to see an update to the features gutter on the home page!
No, the coup watch hasn't taken over IMC, though I will admit it was the main reason I was reading this stuff every day until we got closer to N30, which now we are. Paul is doing a good job, and Phil Agre is one of the wisest people I've found on this net in a long time. You're both to be commended for some very nice work here.
The size of the event warrants the attention. Most of us knew the process was corrupt beyond immediate redemption, but nobody expected it to unfold publicly like this. The people did an amazing thing by turning out and forcing a vote so close the plutocracy had to steal the count right out on TV instead of in the usual locked rooms. It's going to be a learning experience for a LOT of people.
Right now we're in solidarity with the USA 49,300,000.

I'm voting for the Ku Klux Klan in 2004. Bush isn't fascist enough for me.
What's wrong with that? The Democraps have Robert Byrd don't they?
No, Robert Byrd has evolved. I'm glad we have our Trent Lott, though. I hope he never changes!
