A Totally New Way to Vote

The idea behind http://www.votepact.com allows dissatisfied Gore and Bush voters to make a pact in pairs and both cast their ballot for Nader (or any third party candidate). This way voters don't affect the balance between Gore and Bush, but give TWO additional votes to the third party candidate.

The Problem:

Many people want to vote for a third party candidate, but feel like they have to vote for either Bush or Gore because they so dislike the other.

The Solution -- www.VotePact.com -- Just Duet:

The idea behind http://www.votepact.com allows dissatisfied Gore and Bush voters to make a pact in pairs and both cast their ballot for Nader (or any third party candidate). This way voters don't affect the balance between

Gore and Bush, but give TWO additional votes to the third party candidate. We all know someone on the other side of the party divide-- a relative, friend, coworker, neighbor. Let's talk to them about this. Instead of

beating up on each other, and canceling out each other's votes, you can make a tag team allowing all to vote their hearts without hesitation. The important thing is that you trust each other. See: http://www.commondreams.org/views/102900-105.htm

For example:

Before www.VotePact.com

Bush Gore Nader

10 10 0

After www.VotePact.com

Bush Gore Nader

9 9 2

* Wasn't something like this was shut down on the internet?

This is very different. Some "vote swap" web pages suspended some of their operations in matching up people from different states because the government said they were brokering in votes. What they are advocating is

that Gore supporters in "swing" states swap votes with Nader supporters in "secure" states in an apparent attempt to give Gore the White House and Nader 5 percent (which would qualify the Green Party for federal funds in 2004). What we are talking about is different. We want people to vote their conscience and we're noting that teaming up with someone else from your state might help people do that.

* I'm already voting for a third party. Could this apply to me?

Not directly, but you can be a match maker -- share this idea with people you know who want vote for a third party candidate but feel compelled out of fear to vote for either Gore or Bush. This is a way for people who plan to vote for a third party candidate to challenge people who say they want to but don't feel secure doing so.
