On the Ground Collective and ZNet release

MAIL SOLIDARITY

We have figured out a simple way of developing a more concrete connection between the more than one hundred political prisoners being held in the wake of recent demonstrations around the Republican National Convention, and the millions of people worldwide in whose hearts and thoughts those prisoners reside on a daily basis. Toward this end, we have created a service to collect letters over the Internetand deliver them to activists still incarcerated on trumped up charges and bails.

That service is called Mail Solidarity. It consists of a website where you can enter your personal, open message to political prisoners, and view those posted by others. Each day, or on as regular a basis as necessary, members of On the Ground will print out all new letters, compile them into a package, and deliver them by mail to contacts within the Philly prisons where activists are still being held. They will then be distributed as widely as possible to all

those incarcerated for connection with the R2K protests.

If you are like us, you have been yearning to make contact with these brave women and men since hearing about the terrible conditions they are courageously enduring in support of causes we all hold dear. Here is one way you can directly support their efforts.

As anyone who has been jailed will attest, supportive

correspondence is one of the most heartening, empowering and refreshing aspects of an inmate's day. To receive mail from supporters worldwide will be of great benefit to those struggling to remain strong while otherwise isolated from the rest of the movement. Other ways to act in solidarity are discussed on the Mail Solidarity site as well.

This service is of course free of charge, though donations to offset printing and mailing costs will be graciously accepted. For more information, and to take advantage of the service, please go to the web address below...
