Rampart Police Arrest Youth At March Planning Meeting part 2
Yesterday, August 10, I was arrested at Tierra Luna Sol Cafe after a Youth Coalition for August 16th meeting. The meeting was over at 10:00 pm. I was walking to my frind's truck when we seen the cops from a block away shinning the light on us. We were getting ready to go when the police came in two units and told me and two other youth to get against the wall. I was taken to the Rampart Police Station. I had refused to speak or answer any of the cops' questions until I had gotten a phone call. When we were leaving from Luna Sol several plain clothes (undercover) cops were spotted in each corner of the cafe. The cops were seen meeting with them before I was arrested. They labeled me an Anarchist and cracked jokes about the people protesting my arrest. They mocked, "Let Him Go!" The officer that arrested me called us radical nuts! A lawyer from the Midnite Law Collective had called on my behalf and demanded them to give me a phone call. Officer Stone, the one that arrested me, said he would give 3 phone calls if I gave him my name and my age, I agreed. Stone called my mom and I did not receive any more calls. The overseer asked Stone if I had receive my calls, Stone told him that he had called my mom, and the overseer said, "OK! Put that on the report." I didn't receive anymore calls.
After a while they brought in two detectives questioning me about some graffiti. Then he said, "What we really want to know about is the DNC." At 4:00 am I was taken to the EastLake Juvenile Facility. I talked to the probation officer and he said that Rampart has been doing that, bringing kids for trumped up charges. He said since I wasn't a gang member and I didn't do nothing I could be released in the morning. I was released to my brother at 10:00 am.
We are going to take action on this! The Midnite Special Law Collective are going to be suing the Rampart PD for harassment and this report is going to be added. What happened to me happens to the youth everyday. The police are scared that the youth are standing up for their rights!
