I think it's pretty silly that the actions of the LAPD on Monday night is being blamed on the black bloc. It's interesting to see that this post points out where "The Black Bloc" was positioned in the picture. As if they could have been easily distinguished from many other protestors in black clothing or bandannas that engaged in "(water) bottle throwing" including people not in black. It's disturbing to see that some people are picking an easy target to scapegoat and the tendency of some "nonviolent" protestors to police the movement and contribute to the ugly divisions within it.
I will admit I don't know who threw what, I was looking at the cops at the time, not the throwers. I thought Black Bloc was up against the fence below those 2 guys who had climbed on top, but if they weren't, then the caption is inaccurate and it's my mistake.
The thing I thought was the most interesting about this picture is you can see for yourself what kind of stuff was being thrown, it's lying on the street. The police and news media have tended to exaggerate the hazard. Anonymous is right to point out that it was mostly plastic water bottles. I would say 90% that, wooden sticks, and other lightweight crap.
