Hopefully LA won't be the last major demonstration in the country, or even on the West Coast, this year. We hope to see you at the anti-corporate media demonstrations in San Francisco on September 20-23. This is in conjunction with the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Convention, which will feature a keynote address by the leader of the military/industrial/media complex, General Colin Powell. The convention's slogan is "Maximum Value - Minimum Static", and that's just what we will demand from the monopolizers of our public airwaves, in addition to our own piece of the pie in the form of legalized low-power community radio.

It's kind of close to the S26 World Bank/IMF meetings in Prague, though. I'd hate to see those two sets of demonstrations sap each other's strength by their proximity.

not everyone in la is anti-corproate, as the variety of issues the different protests sought to address revealed. it's like the 60s, when the anti-establishment music & concerts served as the platform to create the huge media corporations that exist today, that even groups like rage against the machine works for. bet none of the protestors are going to give up their aol accounts (largest number of hits per stats released to one of the listservs), their nokia cell phones, their drug corporation aspirin & bandages, their corporate produced digital videocams & blank cds, etc. anyone really think that the illegal immigrants in this country have come here to tear down the corporations?
