Protest update



Irvine -- This afternoon edition's of Subversity, a KUCI public affairs

program, features an update on last night's action, with police engaging

in a baton-waving, chemical-weapon shooting onslaught on concert goers,

protesters and news media, after a Rage against the Machine Concert

outside Staples Center in L.A. We'll also feature highlights from

Sunday's Mumia rally, including an interview with lead Mumia attorney

Leonard Weinglass.



Subversity airs from 4-5 p.m. on KUCI, 88.9 fm in Orange County, Calif.,

and is Web-cast at kuci.org simultaneously.



Among the speakers at the anti-death penalty march and rally Sunday were

Mumia's lead attorney Leonard Weinglass, and Mumia's son, who brought

greetings from his father. We'll also bring you music from the rally and

march, including the stirring lyrics and beat of Revolutionary Change.

Today, queers and allies march in L.A. and tomorrow, youth march against

the criminalization of the "justice" system, as well as supporters of Wen

Ho Lee. Yesterday's New York Times western edition carried a full-page ad

against the demonization of Wen Ho Lee, with signatories comprising

several from UCI (including this writer). Today's NY Times carries

another full page ad taking California Governor Gray Davis to task for not

signing a bill to collect data on racial profiling by law enforcement.



On Saturday, a Washington Post reporter was voted out of a meeting of the

North American Anarchist Conference discussing demonstration tactics.
