Nifty riot gear - Make a fashion statement!

by Johnny Versache Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000 at 12:24 AM

After you have ratcheted up the "revolution" to the "second level" as outline by JdPerz. I recommend you also go to the second level in riot gear accessories. Don't leave homw without one. Be the first one on your street to be sent home in one. Make a fashion statement. Express yourself! Go to this web site for a complete selection apparel.

A cop not on the streets

by Samuel Adams and the Sons of Liberty Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000 at 12:24 AM

Hey, the good news is the cop who keeps posting these comments is not out on the streets beating up citizens who are trying to exercise their first admentment rights (I know you've never heard of it...use that internet connection to look it up.)

The LAPD is wasting money on a cop with an internet connection and a big box of donuts.

Kinda sums up the whole problem of out of control cops in one shot! What a great image of American society to show the world.

what's your reason for existence?

by Karl Steel Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000 at 1:21 PM

To The Pro-Police Posters:

Your anti-Mumia comments indicate an inability to understand the issues surrounding the death penalty. Certainly, the individual case of Mumia is significant, and significant to you, because he allegedly killed a cop (a cop that was, you might remember, beating his brother with a flashlight: how would you have responded if your brother were being beaten?). More significant is the fact that appeals courts have found “serious, reversible error” in 68% of American death penalty trials since 1976 (statistic from Prof. James Liebman, Columbia Law School); a 68% losing percentage is pretty bad for a ball team (even the Houston Astros), so consider what that statistic means in relation to something as important as human life. Understand that when protestors deride the death penalty, they are deriding an inefficient, murderous system that adversely and disproportionately affects black men.

Cops, and cop supporters: Have you considered these issues? Have you given it any thought?

What’s your reason for existence? Do you automatically support a state and a system that pours money into policing and prisons rather than education, into guns rather than efficient mass transit (especially into Los Angeles’ cruddy system), into stadiums rather than housing (as happened with the bulldozed community around Dodger stadium 30 years ago)? Would you rather teach your children fear than curiosity, rage rather than compassion? If your only reason for being alive is to punish the people you fear, why should you be alive at all? As a human being, you are a thinking animal, so think. As an adult, if you are an adult, you should be capable of reasonable conversation: try it out. I know you don’t get much support for that at the office, or wherever the hell you are, but we’re willing to give it a go.

.. reasoning with insanity

by Dave Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000 at 5:15 AM

Karl's reasoning with that insanity will likely will fall on deaf ears proving the insanity. Is mass psychosis a surprise when you examine the predominance of insane features in the U.S., the developed world, and the modern social chaos in general? Cell phones, air travel, mega war and industrial death, genocidal sanctions, political perversion, the greed drug, capital punishment, drugged children, are a few of the tell-tale symptoms of humanity's death wish (Gk. Thanatos) that now owns all life on earth except for the simplest single cell life. You can read Gandhi's "Diagnosis of Humanity's Disease" for the details. However, the short wholistic cure is so simple yet too hard for most humans to take. Death wish is the active expression of our fear of living, and fear of death. From that we need ask "How do we stop our fear of living and dying? That question has the potential to create a global contemplation of "progress" halting proportions.Do we not have enough wealth, in fact so much that our species reeks with ugly opulence and pathetic misery?
