Network Activism

by Choronzon Saturday, Jun. 10, 2000 at 3:24 PM

Just a thought on getting the word out.

Has anyone though about applying the techniques of multi-level, network marketing to social activism? Supposing this internet site reaches, say a million people, or even just a hundred thousand activists. Suppose each activist makes a personal commitment to find five other people who will commit to finding five other people will be become socially active, and teach others to do the same. How long would it take to raise a force of political activists spreading the word all across America, and thus bi-passing the main-stream corporate media and dis-information-o-nauts?

Don’t wait! Talk to five people today!

It's already happening

Note that it's already happening. Nowadays, more and more of your time is probably taken up reading news articles that people send to each other. In fact, we (IMC LA) should really add a "send this page to a friend" to these news articles.

In the meantime, if you want to comment on this, please go to the Bulletin Board (linked from the home page). It's been set up for more conversational writing, like this.
