download PDF (74.4 kibibytes) Doug Wright is a Navy Chief Petty Officer; he has served since December 1992 to the present. His decorations include the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3) and a Navy Unit Commendation.

He has done tours of duty at USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN-72), USS VALLEY FORGE (CG-50), NAF ATSUGI AIR OPERATIONS, USS CUSHING (DD-985), USS STETHEM (DDG-63), SRF/JRMC YOKOSUKA, USS RENTZ (FFG-46) and SPAWAR SAN DIEGO.

Doug was raised primarily in the Baptist church and it was there that the first seeds of doubt were sown in his mind. Around the time he joined the Navy he had realized that Christianity was no longer fulfilling. It was in his mid-thirties that he became a Humanist. He is currently a Humanist Lay Leader with the American Humanist Association and MAAF and is focused on getting the Navy to accept and support Humanism.
