DESCRIPTION:

video: MPEG at 12.4 mebibytes Why are officers Esparza and Lujan still on patrol after their savage beating of the young African-American Chris Ballew over a traffic stop? Why is Mayor Tornek fronting for Chief Sanchez in dismissing the demand of the Altadena Town Council that these officers be barred from further patrols in Altadena? Why is Chief Sanchez falsely claiming that officers Esparza and Lujan have a due process right to patrol when a reassignment triggers no due process rights? Why does Chief Sanchez falsely claim that he is so understaffed that he cannot take Officers Esparza and Lujan off patrol when Pasadena is now the most heavily policed City per capita among the 40 California cities in the 100,000-200,000 range? Why is the Pasadena police administration hunkering down to protect the officers who have given it an international black eye by a Pasadena’s Rodney King moment?

Join us at City Hall tomorrow evening to support the Altadena Town Council’s demand to keep the officers out of Altadena and demand that the officers be taken off patrol and reassigned to desk duty during the pendency of the Police Department’s internal investigation.
