clock

Thursday, February 8 at 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Ventura College

4667 Telegraph Rd, Ventura, California 93003

Free film screening at Ventura College.

Equal Means Equal offers an unflinching look at how women are treated in the United States today by uncovering outdated and discriminatory attitudes that influence seemingly disparate issues, from workplace harassment to domestic violence, rape and sexual assault to the foster care system, and the healthcare conglomerate to the judicial system. Director, Kamala Lopez, reveals the inadequacy of present laws that claim to protect women, ultimately presenting a compelling and persuasive argument for the urgency of ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment.

Co-hosted by The Acorn Project, Ventura College, Ventura County Women's Political Council, Ventura County Women’s Forum Collaborative, Ventura County reproductive Rights Network, Ventura County League of Women Voters, Justice for All, Ojai NOW, The Coalition for Family Harmony, and WIN/CAWA. Special thank you for support from our Honorary Co-Chairs, Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson, Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin, Assemblymember Monique Limon, Mayor Carmen Raminez, Esq., Councilmember Christy Weir, Councilmember Cheryl Heitman, Supervisor Steve Bennett, and Supervisor Kathy Long (RET).
