Defend Boyle Heights: Public Meeting: The money and art behind gentrification

Wednesday, November 29 at 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Mariachi Plaza

1718 Mariachi Plaza de los Angele, Los Angeles, California 90033

**NO COPS. NO REPORTERS. NO CITY OFFICIALS. NO GENTRIFIERS.**

Join us Nov. 29 at Mariachi Plaza for our long-overdue community public meeting!

We will be talking about the money and art behind gentrification in Boyle Heights. We will be answering the following questions:

Who are the big gentrifiers? Who owns the art galleries? How exactly are the art galleries part of gentrification? What is art-washing? And how are certain nonprofits connected to the benefit of gentrification? How can we stop it?

The event will be in both English and Spanish. Agenda will be posted as the date grows closer.

Feel free to check out our website for more information about the Defend Boyle Heights coalition: http://defendboyleheights.blogspot.com/2017/09/frequently-asked-questions-for-defend.html

**NO COPS. NO REPORTERS. NO CITY OFFICIALS. NO GENTRIFIERS.**

Why no cops, you ask?

Cops kill, intimidate, brutalize and sinisterly wreck social justice movements through infiltration and division. We don't want them.

Why no reporters, you ask?

Most reporters have been tricked into thinking their job helping a community fight back through knowledge and advocacy is secondary to creating a "sellable" story for their editors, publishers and advertisers. We don't want them.

Why no city officials, you ask?

The City of Los Angeles is a part of the gentrification machine, especially the Department of City Planning; also, most politicians are two-faced poverty pimps. We don't need them.

Why no gentrifiers, you ask?

They're the reason we're in the mess in the first place! We don't want to "dialogue" with millionaire investors, developers or their lapdogs! We want them to promptly leave Boyle Heights. We can't stand them.
