Democratic Club of West OC: Season of Change for OC District Attorney

Friday, Nov 10 6:45-9pm

Green Valley Adult Center, 17250 Los Jardines West

Fountain Valley

The DCWOC presents two speakers: Brett Murdock, candidate for OC District Attorney, and Bethsny Webb, whose experiences with OC's current DA have been stained by misconduct, headline abuses of power, and heartrending frustration. "It's time for a change," says attorney, educator, and former Brea mayor Brett Murdock. "We must dispense with political infighting and favoritism and focus on the justice and fairness our county deserves." Meet Murdock to learn more about him and the department he hopes to lead. Discover more about why change in both law and the District Attorney's offices are warranted from Bethany Webb, whose sister was among eight murdered in the Seal Beach Salon Meritage shooting in 2011. Bethany's narrative is both highly personal and deeply informed. Murdock is a lifelong OC resident and twenty-year small business owner. He was elected to the Brea City Council in 2010 and served as Mayor in 2014. He has served his community as President of the Orange County Division of the League of California Cities, Chair of the Orange County Council of Governments, Chair of the Orange County Waste Management Commission, and Chair of the Operations Committee of the Orange County Sanitation District. Webb worked with Death Penalty Focus to promote passage of California's Proposition 62 (Repeal of the Death Penalty Initiative, 2016) and continues to advocate for justice, families, and the elimination of capital punishment. Her opinion editorial, "My sister was killed in the Seal Beach massacre. I still oppose the death penalty," appeared in the Los Angeles Times on June 29, 2017. Read it here: http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-webb-seal-beach-death-penalty-20170629-story.html Doors open at 6:30. Program at 7. For info call Phil at 310-871-2083. Refreshments included. Membership encouraged, but not required.
