Day of Action: Sheriff McDonnell: Melt the ICE Collusion

n the heat of an August sun, we will bring the fire of our revolutionary love, and the power of our sacred resistance to bear to melt the collusion between the Sheriff’s department and ICE. We will demand that Sheriff McDonell stop lobbying against passage of SB54 (the sanctuary state law), and that the LASD stop all cooperation with ICE in the destruction of our communities, and the detention of our undocumented brothers and sisters.

Since Trump’s inauguration, millions of undocumented families are fearing for their lives. ICE is intimidating, deporting, and separating people from their families, across the country and here in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, as they’re awaiting deportation, our immigrant neighbors are also being abused in detention centers like Adelanto, where two immigrants have died within three weeks of each other this year.

As Angelenos and people of faith, we cannot and will not remain silent in the face of these actions.

We demand that the State Legislature pass, and the Governor sign, the “Sanctuary State” bill (SB 54) to protect immigrant communities.

We demand that the Sheriff’s department stop lobbying against SB 54, and stop cooperating with ICE.

Bend the Arc, CLUE, the Task Force on Sanctuary, Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, LA Voice, NDLON, NCJW LA, Asian Americans Advancing Justice LA, ICUJP, and IKAR are putting our bodies and voices in front of ICE on August 3rd to say: This injustice will not stand in Los Angeles.
