SanctuaryLB Action in Downtown Long Beach

Broadway and Pine Ave, Long Beach, CA
MAKE LONG BEACH A #SANCTUARYNOW! Join us on the corner of Pine Ave and Broadway to show your support for immigrants and a local "Sanctuary For All" policy!
In solidarity with the Sanctuary Long Beach campaign, we demand that Mayor Robert Garcia and City Council make Long Beach a Sanctuary City for all. Long Beach is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the United States, where 1 in 4 people in Long Beach is foreign born, and over 40% of the population identifies as Latino and 12% identify as Asian/Asian Pacific Islander. Our undocumented and immigrant communities are an important part of the diversity that defines Long Beach.
We envision a Long Beach that doesn’t separate families, but protects them. It is not the responsibility of local government and police to spend valuable resources and money to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. With a local Sanctuary City policy, Long Beach will be able to protect residents with sensitive information while keeping Long Beach a diverse and safe place to live, work, and play.
This local policy focuses on the prevention of future deportations beyond the California TRUST Act and recent amendments to SB 54. With a “Sanctuary For All” policy, the city can limit the collection of confidential information, prevent city employees from cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and prevent city resources from fueling local deportations and separating families.
