Topanga First Friday Film: "Thirty Seconds to Midnight"

Friday, June 2 at 7:15 PM PDT

Topanga Library

122 N Topanga Canyon Blvd, Topanga, California 90290

The Topanga Peace Alliance presents: "Thirty Seconds to Midnight ? The Final Wake Up Call? with the filmmaker, Regis Tremblay.

In "Thirty Seconds to Midnight," independent filmmaker Regis Tremblay states what few others dare to say. Humanity may be on the brink of extinction. Nuclear power is not safe; 48 of America?s nuclear power plants are leaking and there is no way to get rid of nuclear waste. America?s reckless provocations of Korea, Russia, and China risk a nuclear holocaust from which no one survives. Climate change and global warming, if not mitigated immediately, will end the human experiment on earth sooner rather than later.

The film features Bill McKibben, Dr. Helen Caldicott, Chris Hedges, Ray McGovern, Ann Wright, Peter Kuznick, David Vine, Bruce Gagnon, Crimean citizens and other activists, scholars, and authors explaining the crisis and threats to life on the planet. The filmmaker spent extensive time in Russia and can also talk to what he found out on the ground there.

After the film we will have a discussion with the filmmaker and present actions that will allow you to help move the clock away from midnight. Come and be part of the conversation!

We will have a vegetarian snack potluck (no alcohol) at 7:15 p.m. with the film screening at 7:30 p.m. The Topanga Library is located at 122 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd. Topanga, CA 90290. If you can, please bring a non-alcoholic beverage or veggie potluck snacks to share. A donation is requested, but no one is turned away for lack of funds. For further information please contact Julie at 310 455-9389.

There is plenty of parking under the library and the event is ADA compliant with elevator access and headphones for those who need a little extra volume.
