HOLLYWOOD -- Underneath a Disney marquee promoting “pirates”, The Mexica Movement, an Indigenous Rights Educational Organization, called for an immediate international boycott against The Walt Disney Company and all of its holdings. The announcement was made in front of Disney’s El Capitan Theater on Hollywood Boulevard before local media (including a Fox affiliate from Hong Kong which later broadcast the story across China).

The Mexica Movement is launching this boycott because Disney employs talk show hosts PAUL HARVEY and DOUG MCINTYRE, who have spread the Minutemen/SOS white supremacist agenda against the Mexican and Central American communities in the United States. (Mexican and “Central American” descent people are in their vast majority an Indigenous people, both Full-blood and Mixed-blood). ...

LOS ANGELES, July 13, 2006 - This past Sunday morning Michael Zinzun of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Black Panther Party died in his sleep. Michael was the conscience of the Los Angeles Panthers, we could not sit in his face and go down memory lane, without having put something in the pot AND CONTINUALLY WORKING to nullify social injustice. Michael's passion did not have social or geographical boundaries, he possessed the orator skills of Malcolm, the fearlessness of Steve Biko, the determination of Che, he welcomed a battle as Crazy Horse did, he was and will always be the example for generations to follow. Funeral services for our comrade in the struggle Michael Zinzun, will be held - 1:00pm Saturday, July 15, 2006 at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 2283 North Oaks Avenue in Altadena, CA. LOS ANGELES, July 13, 2006 The world is literally watching. Media worldwide have covered the case of the South Central Farm, the largest urban garden in the United States, the efforts of the city's elites to drive the farmers from the land, and the farmer's remarkable resistance. On June 13th, the County moved to evict, concentrating a massive police presence in the area to uproot the resistor's encampment on the land. The South Central Farm arose from the ashes of the 1992 Los Angeles rebellion, and stands as a symbol of hope to millions. Despite the eviction, the struggle continues, with a court hearing this week challenging the City's sale of the land to a private developer. When the Los Angeles City Council sold the 14 acre plot called the South Central Farm to developer Ralph Horowitz, they sold land they didn’t own.

LOS ANGELES, July 10, 2006 – U.S. Rep. Waters has declared Mr. Horowitz’s bulldozing of South Central Farm “unconscionable” and unbelievably disrespectful towards the farmers of the nation’s largest urban farm. Rep. Water’s statements were made yesterday regarding the callous and disheartening act of bulldozing the South Central Farm before the Superior Court case July 12 determining whether the sale of the land to Mr. Horowitz by the City of L.A. in 2003 was legal.

...The Superior Court case beginning July 12 and deciding important motions is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. in Dept. 18 of the downtown Superior Court 111 North Hill St. Los Angeles 90012 ...

Support for the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela continues to grow, including in Los Angeles where grassroots communities gathered June 24 for a public event on Women, Autonomy & Creating a Caring Economy in Venezuela. Even as the Bush Administration lobbies to block Venezuela from getting a seat on the UN Security Council, support for the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela continues to grow, including in Los Angeles where grassroots communities gathered June 24 for a public event on Women, Autonomy & Creating a Caring Economy in Venezuela. A packed house at the downstairs studio of Self Help Graphics in East Los Angeles heard guest speaker London-based Selma James, activist, author, strategist, international coordinator of the Global Women’s Strike and a regular visitor to Venezuela who focused on the role of women, autonomy in the Bolivarian process and the commitment of President Chavez not to build a political party but to empower the poor. ...

HOLLYWOOD, July 8, 2006 - Police violence erupted in Hollywood today as a crowd of anti-Minutemen protesters and innocent bystanders were caught in the midst of a spontaneous police riot. As the Minutemen and their supporters held a protected rally on the southeast corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Argyle Street, the opposition overflowed to the nearby corners with the biggest crowd on the southwest corner. Having already surrounded the opposition protestors, members of the LAPD aggressively approached. This despite the fact that the opposition activists were non-violent even when approached by Minutemen provocateurs that frequently drifted across the street.
