COSTA MESA, CA, December 23, 2005--Eighty people, calling Costa Mesa's Mayor Mansoor a racist and proclaiming "Ningún ser humano es ilegal," marched through Costa Mesa this afternoon in outrage at the city council's resolution to empower the city police department to check the immigration status of suspects. The city is the first in the country to commit its police to border control, and the demonstrators were determined to reverse that.  From the Newswire: Costa Mesa's March to Justice by Leslie Radford || Photos, quick report on protest/march against Costa Mesa police by Jammer CC

Gather at 11AM ride at 12 noon. Ride through Hollywood and West Hollywood. Come out to protest the "US wars by terrorism." Make the connection that your choice of transportation is either part of the problem or the solution. You probably realize that hydrocarbons is the chief reason for these U.S. lead wars.

From the Calendar: Anti-War Bike Ride

The Bethel AME Church was packed to overflowing today, a large video screen was set up outside to handle the overflow crowd. Three blocks of Western Avenue was block off and filled with over a 1,000 people, many of whom waited in line for over four hours to pay their respects.

Inside speakers included the Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr., Bruce Gordon of the NAACP, Minister Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam, recording artist Snoop Dogg, human rights advocate Bianca Jagger and closed with a speech by Tookie’s son. The services were intensely passionate, part solemn, part outrage. But mostly it was a celebration of Williams life and his redemption.

Ron "Born on the 4th of July" Kovic spoke at the ANSWER LA Peace Vigil last night at Hollywood and Highland in the heart of Hollywood.

Ron Kovic said opposition to the war is now mainstream, that the Bush Administration is on the verge of collapse, and called on those breaking the law on orders of Bush and the Pentagon to refuse to do so further. We are winning the antiwar struggle, he said, let’s keep organizing.

I’ve heard Ron speak many times. This is is one of his most impassioned speeches ever.
